Catherine Beecher was a feminist and devoted most of her life to the cause of women's education. She believed that women were responsible for the education and moral development of the next generation. She felt that teachers should accentuate their feminine traits and highlight their domestic skills.She wanted women to stand up and be proud of who they were. We chose to name our Charter School after Catherine Beecher, a strong inspirational women, who motivated and influenced women in the 1800's.
