Classrooms at Catherine Beecher will be both heterogeneous and homogeneous in which students will be graded on a uniform grading scale. Grades will be dependent on assignments, attendance and performance. Students will be placed in classes of mixed ability. However, it will be the teacher’s responsibility to group children within the class by ability for group learning. Each year, students will be placed in different classrooms with different teachers and students to encourage interaction with other children. There will also be homogeneous classrooms for students whose learning may require more intensive attention.
