Student and Staff Composition

The anticipated total population of Catherine Beecher Elementary School  will be 628 by 2010.
 
  • Kindergarten will have 6 classrooms. The student teacher ratio will not exceed 1:15. There will be 1 certified teacher per classroom with a total of 6 teachers for every 90 students.
  • Grades 1 and 2 will have 5 classrooms. The student teacher ratio will not exceed 1:15. There will be 1 certified teacher  per classroom with a total of 5 teachers for every 150 students.
  • Grades 3 to 5 will have 5 classrooms. The student teacher ratio will not exceed 1:20. There will be one certified teacher per classroom with a total of 5 teachers for every 300 students. 
  • There will be one Autistic class consisting of 10 students. The classroom will have one certified teacher and two certified assistants. The student teacher ratio will not exceed 3:10 with a total of 1 teacher and 2 assistants for every ten students.
  • There will be one special needs classroom consisting of 10 students. The classroom will have one certified teacher and two certified assistants. The student teacher ratio will not exceed 3:10. 
  • Beecher Elementary will have one certified Gym teacher, one certified Music and one certified Art teacher. Each position is required to hold a college degree.
  • The school will have 1 certified principal and 1 certified assistant principal. The assistant principal is required to have earned at least a masters degree in education administration. The principal is required to have earned at least a doctorate or specialized degree in education administration. Both positions are required to have had at least three years previous experience working in an adminstrative position.
  • The school will consist of 5 Secretaries; 1 for each grade level. They are required to have a college degree with a certification as a professional secretary or as an adminstrative professional and  need to have held at least three years work in an clerical position. The secretary needs to have basic office skills and be proficient in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication.
  • The school will hold 15 food service positions and one cafeteria manager position. The manager will know how to plan a tasty, diversified school lunch exceeding the USDA's minimal requirements.The food staff will know how to properly prepare a nutritional well balanced meal. The food staff will also be responsible for eliminating commercialism and competitive foods within the school.
  • The school will hold 5 custodial positions; 1 per grade level. Each janitor is required to hold at least a high school diploma and must meet the requirement of lifting 50 lbs. Each custodian is responsible for the hallway and classrooms for the grade level they are assigned, assisting in school functions, and is able to respond to emergencies quickly and calmly  
  • The school will hold 1 school nurse position. The nurse is required to have at least a master's in education, public health, or counseling. Or may have a dual certification as an RN and a teacher. They will also need to hold a national certification (CSN license).
  • The school will hold two librarian positions. The school librarian has to hold at least a master's in library science and has to hold a state certification.
